Darren Cole… We love Your Vision!
We’re thrilled to congratulate Darren Cole, Darren Cole Photography, on winning the inaugural ‘Your Vision’ Award for his stunning image, ‘Luskentyre Sails’.
Darren’s impressive winning image, featuring a single sailboat just off Luskentyre Sands on the west coast of South Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, was chosen as the best in category.
Of the win, Darren said: “I’ve been shortlisted several times over the years for various competitions and so it was a great delight to learn that I had won the Loxley Colour ‘Your Vision’ award!”
‘Luskentyre Sails’
The image sees a solitary sailboat beneath imposing overcast clouds, and a break of sunlight illuminating the Luskentyre Sands on the island of Taransay.
Reflecting on how the image came about, David added: “While travelling back from a shoot on Scarista Beach on the Isle of Harris, my partner and I noticed a small yacht with a white sail passing close to the shores of Luskentyre.
“A shower cloud was also passing overhead with the sun streaming through it and with the mountains as a dramatic backdrop, a fantastic scene was quickly unfolding before us.
“It was a frantic scramble to get into position, change lenses and begin to compose the shot before the yacht moved out of position and the light through the shower cloud faded.
“I probably refer to paintings more than photographs for inspiration and I’d like to think that ‘Luskentyre Sails’ is one of the most painterly images I have ever created.”
