Congratulations to the Kennel Club’s winning dog photographers

Dog Photographer of the Year Awards

The winners of the Kennel Club’s 2017 Dog Photographer of the Year Awards have been announced. Over 30 photographers of all ages have won a fantastic bundle of prizes for their images of man’s best friend, including some award-winning products from Loxley Colour.


A competition for all ages

With 10 categories for all kinds of canine whether they be pups, farm dogs or pets, this year’s competition saw thousands of images submitted from all over the world. It’s clear that everyone who enters this competition has a real love for the animals. Two of the categories are charitable awards; the Assistance Dogs and Rescue Dogs categories allow their winners to assign £500 from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust to any dog charity they choose.

Two special categories for under 11s and 12-17-year-olds are designed to encourage the next generation of photographers to get inspired from an early age. The competition is a great opportunity for young aspiring photographers to showcase their skills and be inspired to kick-start their career in photography.

A fantastic prize bundle

As part of the winners’ prize, their Loxley Colour printed images will be exhibited in the Kennel Club Art Gallery in Mayfair, London. The Overall Winner of Dog Photographer of the Year will also receive a business account with our partner SmugMug, a mentorship day with renowned dog photographer Andy Biggar and an original oil painting of their winning image by Sara Abbott. But that’s not all, all winners and runners up will receive their winning image printed on a popular Loxley Colour Art Panel along with a certificate, rosette and trophy.

This year’s winners

The winners will receive their prizes at the Kennel Club’s awards ceremony on Friday the 1st of September at their headquarters in Mayfair, London. The perfect opportunity for all the winners to meet each other, the awards ceremony features a private exhibition of all the winning images. We’re so proud to be sponsoring these awards for a second year and, yet again, it has produced a fantastic collection of photographs from passionate photographers all over the world.
