We’re thrilled to announce the second winner of the Photography News Wedding Photographer of the Year competition.
We saw over a hundred entries into this round and it was tough choosing just one gorgeous fine art image.
And the winner is…
Chesterfield-based photographer Marie Anson has won the second round with this romantic rainy shot.
Judge and last year’s overall winner Natalie Martin said:
“I love the composition, crop, lighting and atmosphere. It looks a little like a painting and you are drawn straight to the bride and groom too.”
Fellow judge Kevin Pengelly said:
“The reason I have chosen this image is that it has a really lovely atmospheric feel to it.”
When Marie discovered she had won the second round and is now in the final line up for winning the overall title, she said:
“I am so shocked (in a good way) as, to me, this is such an honour and validation, given the esteemed judging panel and the very high standard of entries from many other incredible photographers. I am absolutely delighted!
There is so much talent in the wedding industry, so to have my work recognised in such a way is very humbling and, also an acknowledgement that I must be doing something right! I am so elated – ‘I’m chuffed to bits’ as they say in Derbyshire!”
What has Marie won?
Marie has won a 14×10″ Bellissimo album of her choice. She’s also now one of six photographers who will be up for the overall title of Wedding Photographer of the Year 2019!
The next winner to be announced will be for round three, which was the reportage round! Keep an eye on the Loxley Colour blog to discover who has won!
