It’s time to announce the penultimate winner in this competition! Round five was about group shots. Whether it be the bridal party, the groomsmen or the whole family, we wanted to see photographers’ creativity when it came to shooting these images. We’re now thrilled to announce the winner…
And the winner is…
In a Wedding Photographer of the Year competition first, we have a talented photographer who has won not one, but two of this year’s rounds! Congratulations to Ben Appleby, winner of the fourth round and now winner of round five!
Ben captured this wonderfully atmospheric shot of the groom and his groomsmen. Once again, Ben impressed the judges with his talents with Adam Johnson saying “it’s a very clever technique and to pair it with great expressions is hard. A very cool, slick shot with good emotion too.”
Brett Florens said “there is a nice balance of clam and fun in this image, the control of lighting has taken some talent and thought. It would be a lovely framed print on the client’s wall.”
Ben, who works with his wife Hannah, was thrilled with winning yet another 14×10″ album from Loxley Colour, and loved that their creative way of shooting was gaining some recognition, saying “We love shooting groups of people in this way – who says weddings have to be lots of people in a line looking slightly awkward? Much better to have your best mates in a photo, looking a bit more badass, looking like the best version of yourself on your wedding day, captured in a way that your iPhone can’t see!”
Stay tuned for the winner of round six
The Wedding Photographer of the Year competition of 2019 is almost over! Round six closed on the 14th of October, so we’ll be announcing the sixth and final round winner very soon.
Keep an eye on the Loxley Colour blog to discover who is the last winner and then we’ll have our line up of talented photographers who are up for the overall title!
